According to FIFA as early as next year's World Cup in Germany, soccer balls could be very smart. Adidas, Cairos Technologies and Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits have developed a radio frequecy-enabled soccer ball which can tell the position of the ball and all the players on the field at up to 2,000 times a second. Then the data is transmitted to a central computer through the antennas place around the field. This ball will surely empower referees because they can tell for sure if the ball is out of bound.
